Holmes Goes From Pedal Power To Racing Success! | 10.06.09 | 12.54
Racing driver Chris Holmes (Ilkley, Yorkshire) was in fine form at the recent Formula 4 event held at Anglesey taking a win and second place in his first race of the season. Chris joins the season two races in, having missed the opening rounds as the current climate has made it extremely difficult to obtain backing.

In the opening race of the weekend's double header, Chris took a fine and mature second place in atrocious wet conditions as rain poured down on the Welsh circuit. With the top eight from race one reversed on the grid for the start of race two, it meant a start position of 7th for the Yorkshire hotshoe. In a lightening display, Chris comfortably scythed through the field to convincly take the lead and win, setting a new lap record on the way to the chequered flag.

"That certainly blew some cobwebs away!" an elated Chris said afterwards. "I haven't had an opportunity to test the car and was actually on old tyres so to not only take the win but set a lap record in such circumstances is a great boost.

"It has been a difficult few months trying extremely hard to get myself into a car again! In the current climate it's so vital I just manage to keep racing, stay sharp and, more importantly, winning. The Formula 4 Championship is the best option avaliable to me right now, the car is fantastic to drive. I aim to make the most of the chance and winning the Championship is the main focus for 2009".

His winning ways have been supported by Nuffield Health and Fitness, Hanline Associates, Skins Products and Physiocure who he thanks for their continued support. Anyone who is interested in backing Chris to ensure his continued success this season is warmly invited to contact him at p1chris@hotmail.co.uk. His season can be followed at www.chrisholmesracing.com

The horse power of motor racing follows a stint of pedal power for Chris as he recently completed a 100km bike ride to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society. Joined by three friends, Chris completed the feat on 30 May 2009 riding through North Yorkshire. Any one wishing to make a donation can still do so at http://www.justgiving.com/hanline-holmes-mackie

Chris returns to motorsport action in the next round of the Formula 4 Championship to be held at Brands Hatch on 21 June.
