Takes Third Formula 4 Victory Of The Season | 13.07.09 | 14.51 |
|
Chris Holmes (Ilkley, Yorkshire) is
continuing his run of motorsport victories after picking up another win in the
Formula 4 Championship. Racing at Cadwell Park the Yorkshire driver took his
third win from six races to keep his Championship dreams on
track.
Having qualified third for the opening race, Chris drove a
textbook race to take the win and set fastest lap on the way despite taking the
credit crunching move of racing on old tyres! For the second race the race one
top eight finishers were reversed on the grid, so Chris started Race Two from
8th on the grid.
Despite being a twisty and tight circuit even for these
nimble single seaters, Chris had soon worked his way into 3rd place and was
keen to head further up the podium. But, with the car in second place spewing
oil, Chris's visibility was comprised, and his car and tyres were slowly but
surely covered in the slippery stuff. Hindered by the oil and with the chequerd
flag approaching, Chris had a half spin but was able to rejoin the race and
finish in 5th.
"I was really pleased with race one" said Chris, "the win
is what I am always out for. Race two was also looking good but the oil from
the car in front put pay to a podium which is hugely disappointing but at least
I could salvage points and the car is back in one piece! The remaining races -
Silverstone, Oulton Park and Snetterton - are all circuits I know very well,
and hopefully I can use that experience to win the remaining
races".
