Racing Driver Chris Holmes Dominates Formula Four At Oulton Park With Another Clean Sweep

Ilkley's Chris Holmes smashed the Oulton Park Formula Four lap record on his way to a dominate pair of wins in the latest round of the 2009 F4 Championship.

The 22 year old racing driver took a convincing pole position for the first race of the double header event, and used it to good advantage. Chris made a flying start from which he never looked back, eking out a formidable lead. On his way to the race one win Chris set the fastest lap, breaking the Formula Four lap record for the Cheshire circuit.

To spice up the second race of the day, the top eight finishers from race one were reversed on the grid. Starting from 8th, Chris was aware his main Championship rivals would start ahead of him. Another lightening start saw Chris immediately make up places before setting about scything through the field. Though the leader had pulled out a small gap, Chris was quickly able to reel him in and pass him for the lead. Once again the young Yorkshire hotshoe wasted no time in building up an enviable gap. With fastest lap gaining an extra point, Chris was keen to set the pace again. Remarkably Chris not only set the fastest lap, he broke the lap record he'd set just hours previously by another half a second! Chris lapped an average of 2 seconds a lap faster than his rivals!

Chris's latest pair of wins takes his tally to 6 wins from 9 starts for the season.

"The car ran fantastically" Chris said afterwards. "Oulton Park is a great circuit to race on and when the car works this well it is a dream to drive. A clean sweep here puts me in a great position for the Championship finale at Snetterton on 20 September.

"I am already looking ahead to 2010 and hope to secure sufficient sponsorship to be able to take advantage of a competitive drive".

Chris is supported by Hanline Associates, Nuffield Health and Fitness, and Skins Products, and he thanks all those involed in for making this season possible.
