| Chris
Holmes debuts in Formula 4 in conquering fashion | 28.09.08 | 22.45 |

Chris Holmes (Ilkley, Yorkshire)
returned to racing on British soil with an all conquering display in the
Formula 4 race at Snetterton this weekend. The clean sweep victory was a
welcome high point after Chris underwent surgery earlier in the week at Leeds
Genereal Infirmary to have a titanium plate placed in his jaw after it was
severely broken in a recent holiday accident.
Having raced earlier in
the season in the States it was a return to home soil for a one off debut race
in the Formula 4 series. Chris made his mark early in proceedings taking pole
position ahead of Jeremy Walker who has dominated the season this
year.
The pair had a superb tussle in the first section of the race
before Chris took a definitive lead which saw him take the race win by over 30
seconds. In taking the victory Chris also posted the fastest lap of 1min
09.34secs, shaving over half a second off the Formula 4 Snetterton lap
record.
"I am very happy to have been able to race in England again this
year" said Chris afterwards. "I did everything I hoped to by getting pole
position, the win and fastest lap with the lap record as a bonus! Raising the
budget to drive is proving difficult however I am working hard towards a full
drive again in 2009, and this is a great platform to build on
"I would
like to thank all my partners especially Hanline Associates, Bridford Financial
Solutions and Physiocure for their continued support. And a very special thank
you is due to the staff at Leeds General Infirmary after my operation this
week. The excitement of being able to take a bite of sandwich today after 10
days of mush was almost as exciting as the race win!"
