Mixed fortunes for Holmes | 25.06.07 | 12.33
Chris Holmes had a very mixed weekend at Oulton Park Island Circuit this afternoon with a solid 7th place in Saturday's encounter, but damage ruled him out of a good result in Round 10 on Sunday, finishing a frustrating 19th.

Qualifying 10th and 12th during yesterday’s single 20-minute session, the Yorkshire star had a fantatstic start making up two places into Turn 1 on Saturday, and a hard fought first three laps resulted in a quiet end to the race but still a solid top ten performance.

The Ardent Distribution-supported driver was out of luck in race two. After making a great start again Chris got hit at the hairpin, which in turn damaged the front wing, this resulted in massive understeer and a very slow Formula Renault for Chris to deal with. To make things worse on the last lap the rear right upright failed, Chris limped the car back to parc ferme classified 19th.

“It’s another frustrating weekend, but really down to where i qualyfied, if you start in the middle there are always higher chances of contact, and damage”, said a frustrated Chris the end of the race, “Hopefully my luck will change soon, i am working flat out to become a better driver, i just need the results now”

Formula Renault UK now has a three week break ahead of the 11th and 12th rounds of the season at Donington Park National Circuit in Leicestershire on 14th/15th July. Pre-event testing will be held on Thursday, 12th July.

But there will also be an Official Formula Renault UK test session at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit in Kent on Tuesday, 3rd July.
