Holmes shines at Oulton | 23.03.07 | 01.03
Formula Renault UK Rookie Chris Holmes again showed his promise at the final test of pre-season at Oulton Park yesterday, Wednesday, 21st March, the Yorkshire-based star ending the test fifth fastest overall and very happy with his performance.

During the day’s first session the Renault Rookie posted a fastest lap of 1m 19.391 seconds to end the morning sixth quickest and went on improving his times in the afternoon, managing a best time of 1m 18.809 seconds putting Chris' 5th, and gave him plenty to smile about.

“We were quick on old tyres, and i knew as soon as we ran new tyres we could look to gain a chunk of time" Chris found 0.7 seconds which pushed the rookie up to third, and ending the day a fantastic 5th quickest overall "Its a great feeling and as a genuine front-runner i cant wait to get the season started”, said Holmes.

“I feel so happy with the work we’ve done during the pre-season, the last couple of tests have gone from strength to strength, and i have progressed so much in so many areas. To be in the mix with some of the 2nd and 3rd year drivers is so encouraging, its going to be an interesting year, i feel confident and cant wait for Brands Hatch"

With pre-season testing all done, Chris' attention now turns to the first 2 rounds of the 2007 Formula Renault UK Championship which takes place at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit (Kent) next weekend, 31st March/1st April.
