Frustration for Holmes | 23.04.07 | 12.19
The third round of the 2007 Formula Renault UK Championship at Rockingham Motor Speedway was a frustrating one for Chris Holmes the 20-year old having good races to get well inside the top ten before bad luck ruled him out of a good points haul.

Having qualified 9th for race one and 13th for race two, Chris knew he had work to do, the first race started well and by lap 5 Holmes was up to 7th! A lap later whilst challenging Manor Motorsport's Alex Sims for 6th Chris made contact with Adriano Buzaid losing his front wing in the process, however Chris managed to hold on to finish 12th. Race two was very much the same a great start saw Chris go from 13th to 8th within the first 6 laps, and was lying 8th unitill the final lap, when Jordan Oakes (whilst trying to defend from Richard Singleton into the hairpin) outbraked himself and went straight into the side of Holmes' AKA Formula Renault.

“I’m so frustrated and diasppointed with the weekend, we knew it was a damage limitation weekend for us, we lakced some pace in general, i qualified poorly and in doing so you have to race hard and take risks to move up, its all about qualifying ”, said Chris, “I got great starts, and proved i can race well, but a mistake in the first race and bad luck in the second, meant losing two solid results, however there is a long way to go, with 16 races to go there are plenty points there to be had"

Chris is now lying 8th in the 2007 Formula Renault UK Championship standings, the next race meeting is two weeks from now, 5th/6th May, the Pre-race test was earlier this month so Chris and his competition will go directly into qualifying.
