Hard luck for Chris | 30.07.07 | 17.56
Chris holmes endured a difficult and mixed weekends racing at Snetterton but maintains his 9th place in the Championship, Round 13 (Race 1) worked well for Chris making good progress from 11th to 8th, but Round 14 (Race 2) was very different...

Chris started eigth on the grid for round 14 and after a strong start was up to 7th, then later on the first lap Riki Christodoulou picked up some damage, and slowed dramatically infront of Holmes, Chris tried to avoid any contact but his front wing clipped Riki's right rear tyre and cracked Holmes' front wing, Chris continued but was struggling massivly with no front-end grip.

Things got worse towards the end of the race after giving way to the car of Ryan Borthwick at Turn 4 contact was made on the exit, and ended Chris' race.

“The car was very difficult to drive after the contact, i had so much understeer, i held 8th for a long time but dropping back was envitable”, said Chris, “I thought things could not get worse then there was contact with Borthwick after letting him past which ended my race, I really just needed to bring it home and get some points, so its frustrating”

“There is not long left in the season now, so i really need to acheive some top three results, i like the tracks we have left in the calendar so i just cant wait to move on from this to the next race.”

The next race in Formula Renault UK are rounds 15 and 16 of the championship at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit in Kent on 18th/19th August.

However before then Chris will be at Thruxton Circuit in Hampshire, on Wednesday, 8th August, for another official Formula Renault UK test.
