Yorkshire single-seater star Chris
Holmes continued his pre-season Formula Renault UK preparations at Snetterton
Circuit in Norfolk today (8/3/07) feeling happy with his progress after
concluding the day 11th fastest and second of the AKA Cobra team
drivers.
Although it was his first time in a Formula Renault round the
Norfolk track Chris managed to finish tenth during the opening day of the test
yesterday, Wednesday, 7th March, and continued to work hard on bringing the gap
down.
After posting a best lap of 1m 05.315 seconds on Wednesday, Chris
then went faster today to shave another tenth of a second off his time with a
lap of 1m 05.202 seconds this morning.
Unfortunately, Chris
efforts to better the morning session were halted when the afternoon session
was cancelled by Renault Sport UK officials following an accident involving
Manor Competitions Kris Loane which saw the Northern Irishmans
front wing suffer a breakage.
With concerns over safety, championship
organisers rightly took the decision to investigate the problem thoroughly
ahead of next Tuesdays official test at Brands Hatch in Kent, meaning
todays outing at Snetterton concluded a session early.
We
had another interesting day today, Im am really happy with what we
achieved this morning especially as I have never been to Snetterton in a
Renault before, and Im confident we would have found more time had the
session gone ahead in the afternoon, said Chris
Obviously,
safety is critical for Renault and they will look into the problem with the
front wing, hopefully everything will be sorted out in time for Brands Hatch
next week and we can continue moving forward
I am confident
with the progress we have made with the car, I am still getting used to the
Formula Renault but for sure, come the season I will be ready!
The
next test is due to take place on Tuesday, 13th March at Brands Hatch (Kent)
which is a crucial test with the first round in two weeks. Keep updated
