Bad day for the good guys... | 08.05.07 | 15.54
Yorkshire's rising star Chris Holmes suffered another frustrating weekend at an cloudy Thruxton this weekend. The 20 year old struggled thanks to a lack of engine power in qualyfing.

Rounds five and six took place at the fast and flat circuit in Hampshire. AKA Cobra driver Chris Holmes qualified in a frustrating 15th position in both sessions on Saturday, “In qualy the car balance was not bad, at both the complex and chicane, but the engine does not pull at all round the back of the circuit.” he said. “After looking at the data after qualy 1 it was clear that it was the engine i was flat all round the back and losing a second and considering the engine is fresh back from Renault its very diasppointing.”

The AKA Cobra team then worked hard to get the engine changed for Sunday's races however the damage was already done leaving Chris to start 15th in both races. As if Chris' luck could get any worse, on the grid for race 1 the car started to leak coolant he was forced to start from the pit-lane. “Its been another disappointing weekend, and has dropped me way down the Championship and it was not downto me. I just want to get back to having a competetive car and trying to make some inroads to getting back to the top,” he added. “ The next race is Croft, my home track so i cant wait, we also have a two day test next week where we can try and find some speed before the race meeting"

The fourth meeting of the series will take place at the Croft circuit in North Yorkshire on June 2nd/3rd. Stay tuned...!
