As chairman of Tim Sugden Motorsport, Tim has run winning cars in a variety of racing categories from Formula Ford to international GT racing. The company also runs the Michelin Renault Scholarship, which sets out to find the UK's best young racing prospects.

Tim is a distinguished racing driver, and made an early impact by becoming British Junior Karting Champion and captain of the British team. He progressed through Formula Ford, Formula Renault and Formula 3000 before being signed by the factory BMW junior touring car team. Driving in the British Touring Car Championship, he won races for not only BMW but Toyota and Vauxhall.

In 1997 he switched to sports cars, winning the British GT series. For the following year he teamed up with Steve O'Rourke in a McLaren F1, retaining the title, but the highlight was a superb fourth place at the Le Mans 24-hr classic, the highest-placed privately-entered car. Tim still races in GT cars internationally but is increasingly devoting his energies to managing a stable of young drivers including Chris.
